Within this epic story of unrequited love set in Paris of the Middle Ages, near Notre Dame Cathedral, are concealed countless sources of inspiration, spectacles and realities of the period, complex human characters, philosophical reflections and dramatic situations. The novel's text is an ideal point of departure for Theatre ANPU. It lends scope for work with puppets, masks and music in addition to elements of the classical scripted play, and opens up a wealth of possibilities for play with lavish design.
