masquerade travesty in Roman style / an unlikely performance
Inspired by carnival ravels, this Roman feast travesty performed in wigs and on high heels offers whatever you please. Nobody and nothing really is what it seems to be on the first sight. While discussing power and taste, the subjects in question and its surrounding circumstances are being gradually undermined while each statement shortly acquires entirely different, often contradictory meaning.

The carnival of 1702 organised by the Hanoverian Court hosted a Roman style masquerade. The scenario of the event was written by the court philosopher G. W. von Leibniz who drew his inspiration from the lavish ancient feasts thrown by Roman parvenu Trimalchio as described in Satyricon by Petronius.
