SOCIAL ACUPUNCTURE / Mammalian Diving Reflex

Conceived by artistic director Darren O’Donnell, “social acupuncture” is the Mammalian Diving Reflex company’s term for new work that induces encounters between strangers, blurs the line between art and life, and proves the generosity of the social sphere. In projects like Haircuts by Children, Free Advice from a Teenager, Slow Dance with Teacher (“tancit plouzak s pani ucitelkou”), a late-night dance party DJed by 10-year-olds in a gym filled with rubber balls, or Mammalian’s recent project The Best Sex I Ever Had with people from senior citizen’s homes from Canada and Germany, Mammalian bridges gaps between people who may not ordinarily find any reason to form relationships.
