A cynically poetical parable about what goes on in a hotel room and a poetically cynical account of what should have happened, but for various reasons did not, in a place where people from all walks of life, of different genders and with different faces congregate for one purpose alone – to have a good time…
The play takes place in a soulless, anonymous hotel room, where couples meet to satisfy their sexual needs. In the play, sex is not taken as an end in itself, but as a means of uncovering the truth about the characters, who find themselves in situations they are not prepared for, and in which they accidentally reveal the unpleasant facts about their lives which they normally mask and which they are often unable to admit even to themselves.
A series of sketches, which portray people at intimate and delicate situations, in which they easily become vulnerable; they cannot defend themselves and act impulsively…
The title of this show paraphrases a cryptic statement by Ľubo Burgr, discovered on one of the walls of the zero space…
Co-author of the sketches “Lust for Life” and “Zorro” is Slávka Daubnerová The texts are a result of the recording and transcription of improvised situations.
After the show you will see a short film about Zorro
LOVE (Slovakia, 2007) / 30 min
They are a husband and wife in their forties.
He is a university professor and she is a housewife looking after two small children. Between the two, a tangible black hole gradually expands. Before they are sucked in completely, one sunny afternoon they have a strange meeting in a hotel room. The date ends in something they didn’t want but suspected might happen…
The film features almost forgotten timeless songs by Ľubo Burgr in an inimitable interpretation by Laco Kerata, Inge Hrubaničová and Zuzana Piussi. A brilliant philosophical essay about happiness is read by Vlado Zboroň as the Voice on the Radio.
