What She Does is a project of Mexican artist Cristina Maldonado (a choreographer provoked by video and film) in which she recycles films to create visual collages in real time. It is a performance project that reinterprets films by making live physical interventions that invade and damage the composition, atmosphere and situation of the scenes. Here she re-interprets Man with a Movie Camera, a classic avant-garde film, a silent documentary with no story or actors filmed by Dziga Vertov and edited by his wife Elizaveta Svilova. This visual improvisation has a counterpart in guest sound artists and musicians Petr Vrba and Alexandre Losada.

Cristina Maldonado
is a Mexican artist whose background in dance and body movement contributes to her unique approach in her visual and conceptual experiments in video, sound, collage and performance. Her work unites experimental theater, dance, participatory art, new and old media. Cristina’s work is mainly focused on the themes of the body, communication and intimacy. Since 2000 she has been directing and creating performances alone and in collaboration with artists from different disciplines.

This presentation will feature original works composed especially for the Boca Loca Lab group by Michal Nejtek (classical music composer, works with The Plastic People of the Universe, member of jazz group Limbo) and Jiří Adámek, himself founder of the group.

Composers: Michal Nejtek a Jiří Adámek
Performed by: Vendula Holičková, Pavol Smolárik, Daniel Šváb

Boca Loca Lab is a creative platform for the realisation of theatre productions, scenic sketches and workshops. The group was founded in 2007 by Jiří Adámek, who has developed an original type of music theatre, in which he blends musically composed structure, stylized acting and a special approach to language (fragmentation and rhythm of words, play with semi-abstract accumulation of syllables and sounds).
