Floating sculptures, decorating of sugar skulls, interpretation of typical Mexican altar elements and degustation of traditional feast dish – Pan de Muerto are just tiny reflections of a significant Mexican feast.
The old Mexicans believed life and death not to be so completely antithetical as we do nowadays. Life continues in death and vice versa. Death does not mean the natural end to life; it is just one stage in the infinite cycle. Life, death and rebirth are different stages of an endlessly repeating cosmic process. In Mexico, the celebrations of The Day of the Dead are marked by the conviction that the quality of life is, to a certain extent, dependant on the treatment of our deceased ones.
The event is organized in partnership with the Mexican Embassy in Prague and under the auspices of Prague 7 Municipality.
