A forgotten village in a remote valley. No one can remember the last time something happened there. A place of perfect silence where it is impossible to trace the passing of time. The total lack of noise and information creates new memories, dramatically affecting the destiny of the natives who live there.
Ioana Mona Popovici is a dancer, performer and theatre director from Romania, where she attended the University of Dramatic and Cinema Arts in Bucharest. As a dancer she has worked with Karine Ponties, Sarah Bild, Frederique Lescure, Petr Tyc and Luis Guerra de Laocoi. From 2000 to 2004 she was a member of the International Charles Linehan Company – UK, performing in Santa Pod, Speak, Memory, Number Stations and New Quartet. Ioana’s own performances include Buy a Soup Get One For Free, Breath, Shadow, Nothing, Requiem For a Dog, The Chair, Remote Edens, Portrait (awarded the SAZKA Award in 2007), CARMEN MIRANDA IS DEAD (in collaboration with choreographers Francisca Sazié, Luis Guerra, Rafael Alvarez and Simon Vincenzi in Brazil), Work in Regress, Full Moon and The Amnesic Days of the Polar Nights. For three of her performances she was nominated as a Young Choreographer to Watch in the annual critics’ survey of Germany’s prestigious BalletTanz magazine. Currently she is preparing a new project for the Prague Quadrennial, Intersection, which will premiere in June 2011. Ioana’s works have been presented in festivals in Europe and the USA.
