This September 21st, experience a different city with block party events taking place in many different Prague streets.
This event was first conceived as a celebration of public space and an attempt to temporarily transform the city into a pleasant living area, in reaction to the idea of European Mobility Week. The streets or areas are closed to cars so as to create zones without motor vehicles, where people can move on foot, or on bikes safely and in comfort, enjoy music, food, beverages, and above all, each other's company.
Every year more and more locations join in with new activities and attractions, the program is more and more varied. Last year‘s festival broke all records with more than 12 city districts and 24 street locales joining in. Just some of those were: Žižkov, Vinohrady, Vršovice, Letná, Smíchov, Dejvice, Strašnice, Karlín, Braník, Buďánka, Malá Strana, Troja, Palmovka, Hlubočepy, Břevnov, Jižní město, Haštal and Wenceslas Square.
Františka Křížka Street is part of A Different City Experience for the third time this year. On Saturday, September 21st you can once again meet your neighbours, get to know the work of local organizations, societies, associations and creative individuals. You will learn what’s on at the Bio Oko cinema and what shows are coming up at the Alfred ve dvoře Theatre. You will taste what is available in Letná restaurants and cafés and also your neighbours’ favourite recipes. Or share your own culinary achievements. You will browse all kinds of different shops and stands, find a bargain in a used books bazaar, shake your hips at a dancehall in the streets, or head out on an untraditional tour of the city. All this and much more!
