BACK TO REALITY: ALFRED VE DVORE THEATRE ENTERS ITS 17TH SEASON
06.09. 2017

Alfred ve dvoře opens its 17th season with three premieres of works by new artists that all share the theme of “Back to Reality.” On the small stage, Panoráma (25 Sept.) by DAMU graduates Klára Hutečková, Kateřina Součková and Veronika Svobodová aims to "expand viewers’ perception without using drugs.” Just a few days later (28 Sept.), Ufftenživot (Sára Arnstein and Jiří Šimek) presents KEEP CALM, an associative mosaic of monologues, movement, puppetry, video, and rap. And in November Jan Mocek and Táňa Švehlová’s Watching Black looks at the images that we see in our head when the lights go out.

All three new productions are share an attempt at arranging fragments of the contemporary world into images of new reality in order to better orient ourselves in the flood of images and information that surrounds us – or, more precisely, to perceive the different realities in which we live. Is it a new world in an old reality, or our old familiar world in a new reality?

After five years of resisting economic pressures, we at Alfred ve dvoře have decided to increase prices for admission to our performances. Nevertheless, the price increase will be no more than CZK 30–50, and our children’s shows will continue to be discounted when compared to other performances (new price: CZK 150 / 80). We have made this decision in response to the constantly increasing costs of new productions (the theater’s program continues to grow, and this year alone we will present a total of eight premieres) and because of significant cuts in funding from the City of Prague grants.

Despite this unexpected situation, Alfred ve dvoře will continue to be a stage laboratory for non-verbal theater that is open to demanding audiences and innovative artists from the Czech Republic and abroad. Please stick with us and support our work by visiting our shows. We are looking forward to seeing you in our 17th season.
