OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS / CREATION OF NEW WORKS IN 2016
10.07. 2015

10.7.2015

The deadline for 2016 is August 28th, 2015.

Consultations will be held on August 6th and 20th at the Alfred ve dvoře theatre from 2PM to 3:30 PM.

As we approach our 15th Anniversary Seasaon, we are pleased to announce criteria for choosing new projects to be prepared and performed in collaboration with Motus, producers of the Alfred ve dvoře Theatre.

Our theatre is open to programming independent, devised projects working outside existing genres, and/or breaking new ground, and not only physical theatre, contemporary dance, nonverbal and/or visual performance. Projects can be prepared and performed in the large or small spaces of the Alfred ve dvoře Theatre, or in special cases, elsewhere.

Chosen artists and groups have the opportunity to rehearse in the Alfred ve dvoře Theatre with technical and publicity support during the preparation phase of their works. Motus cannot provide financing for the material and fee costs of these works, but pays professional fees for each resulting public performance or presentation. The financing of the work’s development is the responsibility of the groups or artists themselves.

Theme for 2016:

Following IDENTITY in 2014 and INNOVATION TRADITION / TRADITION INNOVATION in 2015,

for 2016 we especially welcome projects connected to the theme(s) of:

PLAY WITH POSSIBLE WORLDS / MULTIPLE HORIZON VERTIGO

We ask artists and groups to submit their applications for the year 2016 with this in mind. We welcome projects with other themes, but our priority is the dialogue of artists with the community through thematic clusters.

Your concise project proposal must include (in ONE or maximum TWO files):

• Project description and comparison to other projects in both Czech and international contexts;
• CVs of creative team, producers and organizers;
• Detailed time plan (research/development phases and rehearsals), preferred dates;
• Budget, project expenses, and how the project will be financed, with confirmations of funding and/or clearly stated probability of receiving financing from each source;
• Why should this project be in development at the Alfred ve dvoře theatre? How will the project make use of the specifics of the small stage or large space (or other)?
• How will it work in other spaces, e.g. on tour?
• New companies/artists provide e-mail or telephone contact info for references;
• If requesting longer-term creative residency (see below), we strongly recommend confirmation that the work will also be developed at a space outside of Prague.

Selection criteria (please study carefully):

• Innovative theme and/or form;
• connection of the project to the year’s theme, or if the theme is different priority goes to projects able to inspire audiences to appreciation of independent creation and new forms;
• confirmation of or high probability of own project financing from grants, sponsorship, or own sources;
• extensive research/development phase previous to t of rehearsals;
• own producer and technical personnel in the team;
• commitment to long-term intensive rehearsal process;
• ability of the creative team to keep project going after the performance premiere;
• list of creative team members should not include names of those, who have not committed to working on the project.

For 2016, 3 to 6 new projects will be chosen, 1 or 2 of which will be in longer-term creative residency with heightened support.

Projects are chosen by a small advisory group made up of personalities from various artistic fields.
We will publish results of the selection by September 25th, 2015.

Please send applications either by e-mail: program@alfredvedvore.cz, or by post to: MOTUS o.s., Ewan McLaren, artistic director, Veverkova 28, 170 00 Praha 7.
