FRAGILE

The Story of Laura
performance length: 50 min
art theatre

"When you look at a piece of delicately spun glass you think of two things: how beatiful it is and how easily it can be broken..." Tennessee Williams

”Fragile” art theatre is part of the Three Transformations project by the artist and stage designer Darinka Giljanovic. The story is based on the studies of the inner world of three female characters (Medea, Laura, Phaedre), who are deliberately extracted from the continuity of the action and text of their dramatic model. The spectators are thus given to a unique view over these famous heroines. The first part - Medea - was showed in2002. FRAGILE is the second independent part of the project “Three Transformations.” In this part, as if through a magnifying glass, the authors examine the character of Laura from the Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. It asks the question what happens to a person outside from the context of the society. The project is a one actor theatrical form where the theatre space is understood as a co-actor.
